The 82-minute documentary ‘‘Lioness,” which details the personal accounts of female Soldiers assigned to direct ground combat in Iraq, will be shown today in the hospital’s Joel Auditorium at 1 p.m. After the film, there will be a panel discussion with two of the Soldiers featured in the film and the filmmakers. The event is free.

Chanukah party

The Walter Reed Army Medical Center Department of Ministry and Pastoral Care’s Annual Chanukah party is Tuesday at noon in the Heaton Pavilion’s Joel Auditorium. Walter Reed Army Medical Center’s Nutrition Care Directorate will host the Winter Celebration Meal Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the hospital dining facility. The 2009 Joint Services Holiday Ball is tomorrow in the Show Place Arena at 14900 Pennsylvania Ave., Upper Marlboro, Md. Child, Youth and School Services offers two tutorial services to the military families: Tutor.com and Student Online Achievement Resources (SOAR).
