Comprehensive Plan hearings

The St. Mary’s County Commissioners will hold the last hearing on its Comprehensive Plan as part of the plan’s six-year review Nov. 17 at the Northern Senior Activity Center in Charlotte Hall. For more information, call 201-475-4200 ext. 1340.

Indoor Flea Market

The St. Mary’s County Fair Association is having a Mega Indoor Flea Market Nov. 14, 8 a.m.-noon at the Fairgrounds. All vendors and crafters are welcome, and an 8x10 speca with one table may be rented for $20. For information or to rent a space, call 301-475-9543.

Chopticon play

Italian Dinner Night

The Father Sebastien de Rose Council of the Knights of Columbus will host its Fifth Annual Italian Dinner Night on Nov. 6, 5:30 p.m. at St. Nicholas Chapel’s Religious Program Center. Suggested donations are $5 per person or $20 for families of four or more. Proceeds of the event benefit parish families, the community and Little Sisters of the Poor in Washington, D.C. ‘‘The Song Buccaneer”

‘‘The Fantasticks”

Newtowne Players will present the Tom Jones-Harvey Schmidt musical ‘‘The Fantasticks” Thursdays-Sundays through Nov. 22 at Three Notch Theatre in Lexington Park. Annual oyster scald

Theater Ribbon-Cutting

A production of George Bernard Shaw’s ‘‘Arms and the Man” will open the newly-renovated Bruce Davis Theater Nov. 12 in the Montgomery Hall Fine Arts Center of St. Mary’s College. The formal ribbon-cutting will precede the performance. The show will continued its run Nov. 13-14 and 1921 at 8 p.m., plus 2 p.m. matinees Nov. 15 and 22. Ticket prices are $4 and $6. Holiday craft fair

Veterans Behavioral Health

A regional awareness event on Veterans Behavioral Health will be held Wednesday, 7-9 p.m. at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center. Dr. Joel Scholten, a trauma specialist in combat post-traumatic stress syndrome, will offer recommendations, followed by keynote speaker and Washington Post reporter Chris Davenport on his experiences being embedded with the Black Hawk Battalion of the Virginia National Guard. The event is co-sponsored by St. Mary’s Hospital, the Patuxent Partnership and the National Alliance on Mental Health.

Wind Power Forum

The Southern Maryland Higher Education Center will be the scene Nov. 17 for a ‘‘Wind Power Forum” at 7 p.m. Sponsored by the Potomac River Association, topics will include financial incentives, practicality, legal issues and advisable locations. Performing ‘‘Gloria”

Holiday Open Mics

Southern Maryland Traditional Music and Dance is sponsoring a pair of Open Mics, one right before Thanksgiving and the other during the Christmas season. The first will be Nov. 20 and the second Dec. 11. Both will be 7:30-10 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church Parish Hall on Route 234 in Chaptico. Doors open at 7 p.m.. The St. Mary’s County government is hosting a SKYWARN class Dec. 9, 6-8:30 p.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the Chesapeake Building in Leonardtown.
