Comprehensive Plan hearings

The St. Mary’s County Commissioners will hold three hearings on its Comprehensive Plan as part of the plan’s six-year review. The first will be today in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room at the Chesapeake Building in Leonardtown. The others are: Nov. 5 at St. Mary’s College, and Nov. 17 at the Northern Senior Activity Center in Charlotte Hall. For more information, call 201-475-4200 ext. 1340.

Indoor Flea Market

The St. Mary’s County Fair Association is having a Mega Indoor Flea Market Nov. 14, 8 a.m.-noon at the Fairgrounds. All vendors and crafters are welcome, and an 8x10 speca with one table may be rented for $20. For information or to rent a space, call 301-475-9543.

Community Health Fair

The St. Mary’s County Community Health Fair will be tomorrow, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department. Free health screenings will include skin cancer, depression and hearing, and pneumonia inoculations will be available. The event is open to the public. Chopticon play

Italian Dinner Night

The Father Sebastien de Rose Council of the Knights of Columbus will host its Fifth Annual Italian Dinner Night on Nov. 6, 5:30 p.m. at St. Nicholas Chapel’s Religious Program Center. Suggested donations are $5 per person or $20 for families of four or more. Proceeds of the event benefit parish families, the community and Little Sisters of the Poor in Washington, D.C. ‘‘The Fantasticks”

Newtowne Players will present the Tom Jones-Harvey Schmidt musical ‘‘The Fantasticks” Thursdays-Sundays, Nov. 6-22 at Three Notch Theatre in Lexington Park. ‘‘The Song Buccaneer”

Wind Power Forum

Veterans Behavioral Health

A regional awareness event on Veterans Behavioral Health will be held Nov. 10, 7-9 p.m. at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center. Dr. Joel Scholten, a trauma specialist in combat post-traumatic stress syndrome, will offer recommendations, followed by keynote speaker and Washington Post reporter Chris Davenport on his experiences being embedded with the Black Hawk Battalion of the Virginia National Guard. The event is co-sponsored by St. Mary’s Hospital, the Patuxent Partnership and the National Alliance on Mental Health.

Criminal Justice Open Houses

The College of Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Open Houses will be Tuesday at the La Plata campus’s CC Building lobby, Wednesday in the Leonardtown campus’s Building C lobby, and next Thursday in the lobby of the Prince Frederick campus flagship building. The time at all three locations is 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and representatives of local police departments, the Maryland State Police, Secret Service, corrections departments, and local fire and emergency services will be available to answer questions.

Crafter⁄Vendor Fair
