Walter Reed shuttle service extends hours

Beginning Monday, the Walter Reed-Bethesda-Forest Glen shuttle will operate with extended hours to better serve the Walter Reed workforce, officials say.

The final daily shuttle will leave from the lower level of Heaton Pavilion (Bldg. 2) at 8 p.m. instead of the previous 7:40 p.m. This is designed to provide employees with late shifts the opportunity to take advantage of satellite parking at Forest Glen.

On July 1, the Walter Reed Garrison Transportation Office established an express shuttle service operating Monday through Friday between Walter Reedís main campus and Forest Glen.

In addition, the Garrison has been providing a shuttle that services Walter Reed, Forest Glen and Bethesda for many years. This shuttle service begins each weekday at 5 a.m. on Forest Glen. The shuttle continues throughout the day with the final shuttle leaving Walter Reed at 7:40 p.m. for Forest Glen.

The shuttle extension is the latest initiative undertaken by the Garrison to alleviate parking congestion at Walter Reed,îofficials say. The initiatives are being undertaken to better serve patients and staff, they add.
