What prompted you to enlist in the Navy?
I wanted to do a 180-degree turn in my life, my family was excited about the whole idea, and finally, this is a great country, so I decided to give back some of what I have gotten so far.
What is the most memorable moment in your Navy career?
I will never forget when I stepped off of the bus at Great Lakes, at that point there was no turning back, the decision was made and I had to face it.
What is your favorite pastime or hobby?
I consider myself a family man, I love them so much. I enjoy every minute I have when I am off duty. As a hobby, I might say doing home repairs. I like construction a lot.
What do you consider the best or most satisfying part of your job?
I like training every day and learning something new, every time is exciting. Getting the quals done makes me happy. I also enjoy passing on the knowledge that I have that only makes us a better Navy.
If you could change anything in the world today, what would it be?
Poverty. I came from South America and I know first-hand what it is like to see kids living on the streets by themselves with no food to eat. That is the saddest feeling I have ever had.
