Morale, Welfare & Recreation

Free Respite Care
Navy Exceptional Family Member Program Respite Care helps Navy families who have children with special needs by providing up to 40 hours of respite care per month per child. Eligible families must be enrolled in the program, reside in Maryland or the Washington, D.C., area, and have a child ranging in age from birth to 18. Call 800-424-2246.

Fit for Life Program
Through Dec. 31, 2010 take advantage of the fitness program to maintain consistency in your fitness workouts. MWR Fitness will tally up the points and award prizes depending on the number of points participants earn. Call 410-293-9226 for more information.

School-Age Care Registration
Register your child for before- and after- school care at the Billy the Kid Youth Center. Current SAC children have first priority, however registration is open as long as spaces remain available. For more information, call 410-293-9396.

Youth Soccer League Registration
Registration for the coed youth soccer league at the Billy the Kid Youth Center will run through Aug. 20. To register, stop by the youth center, 126 Alder Road, NSA Annapolis, or call Tony Burch, youth center director, at 410-293-4997.

Armed Forces Vacation Club
Book affordable vacations through the Armed Forces Vacation Club. The AFVC is available to all DoD civilian personnel, active duty, retired and their families. Call 800-724-9988 for reservations.

Washington Nationals Special Rate
All military and DoD personnel can take advantage of special rates for Washington Nationals tickets for the remainder of the 2010 season. Left and right field seats plus a $10 food voucher are $27. Scoreboard pavilion seats plus $10 food voucher are $21.75. Upper infield gallery seats are $11. To order tickets, call 410-293-9200.

ITT Offers Bahamas Cruise
Book a seven-night Port Canaveral (Orlando) and Bahamas cruise through the MWR Annapolis ITT Office. The cruise departs Baltimore Dec. 26 for Port Canaveral, Nassau and Freeport. Prices are $1140.13 per person for an interior cabin and $1383.13 for a balcony cabin. For more information call the ITT Office at 410-293-9207.

Lap Swimming Availability
MWR Annapolis has extended lap swimming hours at the North Severn pool at NSA Annapolis from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The pool is now open on Tuesdays for lap swimming only. Regular operating hours for open swim have changed from 12:30 to 7 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through Friday. During weekends and on Labor Day, the pool will continue to open noon to 7 p.m.

Water Quality Report
The environmental division’s 2009 drinking water quality consumer report is available at www.usna.edu⁄PublicWorks⁄util.html. Anne Arundel County produces the drinking water on the North Severn area. That report is available at www.aacounty.org⁄DPW⁄Utilities⁄waterQuality.cfm. Copies of both reports will be available through the NSA Annapolis public works environmental division. Renaissance Festival Tickets
The MWR Annapolis ITT office has discount tickets for the Maryland Renaissance Festival in Crownsville, Md. Cost is $13.50 per adult and $7.50 per child. The festival runs every weekend from Aug. 28 through Oct. 24, including Labor Day weekend from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For tickets, stop by the ITT office, bldg. #89, NSA Annapolis or call 410-293-9200.

Captain’s Cup Flag Football
Captain’s Cup tournaments are hosted by MWR Annapolis Fitness and are open to active duty only. Sign up with your unit sports representative or MWR at 410-293-9211. The Flag Football Tournament will be held Aug. 24-26 at 5:30 p.m. at the North Severn Ballfields, NSA Annapolis.

White House Christmas Ornaments
MWR Annapolis ITT has the 2010 White House Christmas ornaments on sale for $16.50. This year’s ornament commemorates the 25th President of the United States, William McKinley and the role of music in the White House. For more information, call 410-293-9200.

Labor Day 5K Run
MWR Fitness will host the annual Labor Day 5K Run on Sept. 4 at 9 a.m. starting at the Bay Room, Greenbury Point, NSA Annapolis. The run is open to all DoD eligible patrons. Register by Aug. 23 at MWR, bldg. #89. Race day registration T-shirts will be available on a first come, first served basis. Cost is free for active duty and $5 for all others. Fleet & Family Support Center

Retired Activities Office
This office advises all retired military and their family members in such areas as the Survivor Benefits Plan, retired rights and benefits, widow’s outreach and assistance. The office is open every Wednesday from 9 - 11 a.m.

‘‘Hearts Apart” Discussion Group
A deployment discussion group is held on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 6:15 - 7:30 p.m. at the Fleet & Family Support Center. Free onsite child care is available upon advance request. Registration is required.

Fun Day 2010
Fun Day will be held Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at FFSC, 168 Bennion Rd. This event welcomes families who recently moved to Annapolis and offers area commands the opportunity to help enrich their families’ quality of life.
