CYSS offers new look to go with new programs this summer.

The winning CYSS Summer CAmp tshirt design was developed by by Alex Innocenti of Walkersville High School.
Child Youth and School Services wanted to revamp their look and programs for the summer and they did just that, all the way to the youth t-Shirts.

In the past, Child, Youth, and School Services has partnered with the Career Tech Center in Frederick for summer t-shirts.

This year, CYSS wanted the youth to have say in what they would be wearing for the summer and really make it to their liking.

Employees Taurean Washington and Dunja hall took the lead in making this venture happen.

Washington took the role in the voice of the teens and Dunja Hall handled the voice of the school age youth.

The teens took a vote and they opted to have string bags instead of T-shirts. They wanted to wear their personal style of clothing during field trips.

Both counselors met with John Augustine, the Graphic Communication and Printing Technology Instructor at the Career Tech Center and discussed the vision of the shirts for this year.

Both counselors came up with the proposal to have Augustine’s students come with their own design to pitch to the Detrick youth.

The Career Tech Center students started with thumbnails of their designs.

Of those designs the youth at Fort Detrick picked out their top 10. From there, the thumbnails were enhanced into sketches and the Detrick youth picked a final winner.

The design for the summer t-shirts was created by Alex Innocenti of Walkersville High School.

The Summer String Bag design for the teens was designed by Alicia Kim of Thomas Johnson High School.

All of the students helped in producing the shirts using in depth printing techniques that they acquired from the teaching of John Augustine. CYSS staff were pleased with the shirts that Augustine and his class produced.

CYSS will start the summer right with a new vision and a new look!
