Midshipmen Do Their Part During Sexual Assault Awareness Month

The USNA’s Sexual Assault Victim Intervention (SAVI) program ran activities during the month of April in support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). GUIDEs are midshipmen who give guidance, understanding, information, direction and education to their fellow midshipmen about sexual assault and how a victim can get help. The SAVI GUIDEs sold 1001 t-shirts throughout the brigade, raising $600 to be donated through the Combined Federal Campaign to the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County for their Sexual Assault Crisis Hotline program. Midshipman 2nd Class Sarah Stadler (left) was the SAAM coordinator and Midshipman 1st Class Rebekah Cranor (right) sold 125 t-shirts, the largest amount sold by a GUIDE. Receiving the donation is Molly Knipe, Executive Director of the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. Photo courtesy of Lt. Robin Akin.
