Commissioning Week Information for Visitors and Guests

For the convenience of family, friends and visitors during Commissioning Week, May 23-27, the Naval Academy will provide free, daily shuttle buses, a dedicated phone number for schedule of events information, weather-related updates and information regarding TV and radio broadcasts of the graduation and commissioning ceremony.

With the exception of certified assistance animals, pets are not permitted on academy grounds during Commissioning Week. Picnicking is also prohibited on academy grounds.

Parking: Parking at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Taylor Avenue is strongly advised due to anticipated congestion downtown and limited parking at the Naval Academy. The daily fee is $5 per car and $10 per recreational vehicle. Vehicles without DoD decals are not permitted on the academy grounds. Cars with handicapped tags or dashboard placards must be issued a pass from the Visitor Access Center at Gate 1 during normal business hours. After hours, a pass may be issued at Gate 1 or Gate 8.

Shuttle Buses: Free shuttle buses will run two routes, roundtrip, from the stadium to the academy. The RED route will run approximately every 15-20 minutes from the stadium to Alumni Hall on the following schedule:

May 23, 24 and 26 - 7 a.m.-11 p.m.
May 25 - 7 a.m. to midnight

The PURPLE route will run from the stadium to Alumni Hall, the Naval Academy Museum, Dahlgren Hall, the Visitor Center and the Midshipman Store and will return in reverse order, approximately every 30 minutes, on the following schedule:

May 23 – 7 a.m. – noon and 3 p.m. – 11 p.m.
May 24 – 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. – 11 p.m.
May 25 – 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. – midnight
May 26 – 7 a.m. – 11 p.m.

During peak periods, please anticipate lines for the shuttle service and delays due to heavy traffic congestion in and around downtown Annapolis.

Shuttle buses will not operate on graduation day, May 27, unless weather dictates that the ceremony be moved to Alumni Hall. If that occurs, buses will run for indoor graduation ticket holders and USNA staff only. Shuttles will begin at 6 a.m. and continue until all authorized personnel have been transported to Alumni Hall. Upon conclusion of the ceremony, buses will run until 2 p.m. between the stadium and Alumni Hall.

These schedules may change. Call the USNA activities phone line at 410-293-1000 or visit the website at www.usna.edu for the most up-to-date information.
