MWR Fitness
It’s a new year, so start over and schedule some time to get in shape and stay healthy! MWR offers a variety of opportunities to help you get in shape, from personal training and computerized fitness assessments to abs classes, 5K runs and more. The Naval Health Clinic offers classes and events to help people stay healthy and the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) provides stress management classes. Optometry Clinic Closing
Due to recent deployment obligations, the Optometry Clinic at Naval Health Clinic Annapolis will be temporarily closed. When care is not available at a military treatment facility (MTF) or you need to be referred to a civilian provider, Health Net maintains a network of civilian providers who are available to supplement your optometry care. Your coverage and out-of pocket costs are dependent upon your eligibility and your Tricare status. Active duty service members must seek optometry care through local MTFs such as Kimbrough, Bethesda, Walter Reed and Malcolm Grow. If you cannot get an appointment at one of these facilities, see your primary care manager for a referral to a civilian Tricare network provider. Active duty family members, retirees and families of retirees with Tricare Prime have the option of obtaining optometry services through the local MTFs or seeking care through a local Tricare network provider. Tricare covers the eye examination each year for active duty family members and once every two years for retirees and their families. Glasses and contacts are not a Tricare-covered benefit. Health, Nutrition and Fitness Fair
MWR will host the 12th Annual Health, Nutrition and Fitness Fair on March 23 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the gym of the MWR Recreational Services Bldg. #89, NSA Annapolis. This year’s theme is ‘‘make time for good health.” The fair showcases the Navy's health and fitness programs and exposes military and civilian employees and their family members to fitness and wellness opportunities available in the local community.

Oil Disposal Station
The oil disposal station at the Navy Exchange Gas Station, Naval Support Activity Annapolis is temporarily unavailable due to the construction of the new MWR Car Wash in that location. The oil disposal station will be relocated in the gas station compound with expected completion in February 2010. A county waste management facility can be used in the interim. For locations in the county, please call Anne Arundel County Waste Management at 410-222-6100. The nearest disposal station to NSA Annapolis is the Millersville Landfill & Resource Recovery Facility, 389 Burns Crossing Road, Severn, Md.; open Monday - Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; closed all holidays.
Text Messaging Comes to Liberty Zone
The Liberty Zone has unveiled their new text messaging service. Taking part will enable participants to be the first to find out about Liberty Zone trips and events by texting LIBERTYZONE to 30364. To commemorate the occasion, a text messaging kick-off celebration is planned for April 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Liberty Zone. Expect to enjoy food, fun and prizes and don’t forget to sign up for text messaging.
