The Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy is sponsoring the Department of the Navy Item Unique Identification (IUID) Education and Training Symposium (DIETS) April 6-8 at the Vista Point Conference Center at the Norfolk Naval Station, Norfolk, Va. It is being held by the Total Asset Visibility Division of NAVAIR and will be of interest to all program executive officers, program managers, contracting officers and maintenance officers.
The symposium is free and those involved in IUID are encouraged to attend. Topics will include readiness reporting enabled by IUID, serialized item management, contracting for IUID, AIS strategy implementation, and the value of IUID.
Speakers include Rear Adm. David Baucom, deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for acquisition and logistics management; Rear Adm. Clarke Orzalli, director of fleet maintenance; LeAntha Sumpter, OSD defense procurement and acquisition policy; Greg Kilchenstein, OSD maintenance policy and programs; and Mike Howard, Department of the Navy IUID program manager.
