Solid Curtain⁄Citadel Shield is next week
Pax River will conduct the annual anti-terrorism exercise Solid Curtain⁄Citadel Shield next week, Monday-Friday. It will be more noticeable than in past years, using expanded and more generally visible scenarios.

While disruptions will be kept to a minimum, traffic around the base will be impacted by some of the exercises, which are intended to demonstrate Pax River’s ability to prevent, detect, report, respond and recover from terrorist incidents.

At one point, the Pax River force protection status will rise to FPCON Charlie, at which time Gates 1 and 3 will be closed and cars passing through Gate 2 will be subject to 100 percent identity checks for all passengers and increased random vehicle checks. Once Pax River has successfully demonstrated the ability to escalate to FPCON Charlie, the gates will be reopened, but cars will then be subject to random screenings for the duration of the exercise.
