Employee Assistance Program Supervisor Orientation today
There will be an Employee Assistance Program Supervisor Orientation, March 18, 1 – 2 p.m., Building 1520, Classroom 6.
Many Supervisors and employees are aware that personal problems can and do interfere with an employee’s ability to perform on the job. Emotional problems and mental illnesses, family or marital stress, physical ailments, abuse of alcohol or other drugs, the death of a loved one and many other problems can make work difficult.
To help employees perform at their best and assist supervisors with maintaining employee job performance and productivity, The Employee Assistance Program is available at Ft. Detrick.
The EAP Supervisor Orientation is a one hour class designed to introduce the supervisor⁄manager to the parameters of the EAP at Ft. Detrick, MD. Please register by calling (301) 619-2857, fax (301) 619-2884 or email usagdctee@amedd.army.mil.
USAG Fort Detrick is now on Facebook!
If you are on Facebook, look up the new USAG page under the name US Army Garrison Fort Detrick. You will see news updates, base closures, delays and information and be able to connect with your friends from across Fort Detrick.
We know that Facebook is not accessible from your government computer, and please understand NEC cannot grant access to Facebook for your workstation at this time, but this offers an alternate access to information regarding Fort Detrick closings, events and news from home and mobile devices.
Each year Fort Detrick holds the Combined Federal Campaign encouraging contributions to charitable organizations. This year the Fort Detrick CFC raised over $212,000.00.
The campaign is a success due to the volunteer efforts of many Fort Detrick personnel. In recognition of this work, a closing ceremony will be held at Strough Auditorium, 2 p.m., March 23.
All are invited to celebrate this Fort Detrick team effort. Thank you everyone, for your generous support and those who worked to make it a success.
POC is Mrs. Lydia Pete at (301) 619-3314 or olga.pete@amedd.army.mil.

MyCAA Scholarship Program for Military Spouses resumed
The Department of Defense announced the resumption of the Military Spouse Career Advancement beginning March 13 at 12 p.m. EST and the 136,583 military spouses who are currently enrolled in the program will once again be able to receive tuition assistance.
The first phase of the reinstated program will enable the department to continue to pay up to $6,000 in tuition assistance for spouses currently enrolled. The department is working hard to adjust and meet the demands of the program and develop a long-term solution for spouses not yet enrolled who would like to establish an account.
The program was launched March 2, 2009, to assist military spouses in attaining portable careers in high-demand, high-growth occupations. An unexpected spike in enrollment prompted the Defense Department to pause the program on Feb. 16. A thorough review began immediately to assure the program was accomplishing its intended goals.
The Defense Department is currently developing options for the long-term management of the program and expects to be able to announce the details soon.
Until new accounts can be created, Military OneSource Spouse Education and Career Consultants will continue to be available to provide education and training, career exploration, assessment, employment readiness and career search assistance.
