N-MCRS Golf Open
The Third Annual Navy-Marine Corps Relief Golf Open will be April 23 at the Cedar Point Golf Course. Shotgun starts are at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Entry fee is $65 per player or $260 per team, and includes box lunch, drinks and golf gifts. Registration deadline for the event, which is co-sponsored by N-MCRS and the Mid-Atlantic Defense Acquisition University Alumni Association, is April 19. Chili Cook-Off
There will be a ‘‘Chili Cook-Off” tomorrow, 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Religious Program Center (Bldg. 401), sponsored by the 2010 Chief Petty Officer Birthday Ball Committee. Crocheters andknitters wanted
The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society at Pax River needs volunteer crocheters and knitters for the ‘‘Budget for Baby” program, which provides military families with financial education and also layettes birth and beyond. Free tax assistance
The Legal Assistance Office in Building 409 is offering free income tax preparation and e-filing to active duty military and their dependent, retirees and their dependents and reservists on active duty orders of 30 days or more.
There are income restrictions of $40,000 per individual return and $80,000 per joint return.
Customer service hours are Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. There are no Friday hours. New clients will be accepted at the Tax Center now through April 8. For information contact the tax center at 301-342-7643.
Robotics judges sought
Judges are needed for the Navy and National Defense Education Program robotics challenge March 20 at North Point High School in Waldorf. Judges will evaluate research projects and team building skills at the event, which starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. NAWCAD employees are provided a charge number for their time while judging.
