Area Job Fairs Offer Opportunity

Upcoming job fairs, sponsored by JobZone, will be held on March 17 from 3 - 7 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center, and on March 26 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the King George Citizens Center.

Combat Support Groups

The Virginia Wounded Warrior Program is offering Combat Support and Family Support Groups. Groups are available as follows:

  • Combat Support Group for any student veteran who has experienced combat from every era, with any discharge status, Reserve and National Guard and military contractors deployed in a combat theatre.

    Germanna Comm. College, Fredericksburg Campus, Room 105 FAC2 – March 24 and April 7 and 21 (all groups 6 – 8 p.m.)

    Germanna Comm. College, Locust Grove Campus, Rm. 114 - March 17 and 31 and April 14 and 28. (all groups 6 – 8 p.m.)

  • Combat Support Group for any combat veterans of OIF, OEF, Vietnam, Desert Storm, as well as combat veterans with any discharge status, Reserve and National Guard and military contractors deployed in a combat theatre

    Fredericksburg Baptist Church, Rm. PA-113 – March 16, 23 and 30 and April 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 6 p.m.

  • Family Support Groups open to all family members, dependents, and caretakers of OIF⁄OEF, Vietnam and Desert Storm combat veterans, Reserve and National Guard members, and military contractors deployed in a combat theatre.

    Calvary Chapel, March 15, 22 and 29 and April 12, 19 and 26 from 6 – 8 p.m.

    King George Comedy Gala

    The 3rd Annual King George Relay For Life Comedy Gala will be held Friday, April 16 at the Riverboat on the Potomac in Colonial Beach. Entertainment will be provided by Thunder 104.5 radio host, Denny More. An evening with Denny includes stand-up comedy, astounding feats of E.S.P., and hilarious and amazing magic. The night will also include cocktails, dancing and cuisine from around the world. Tickets are $50 each with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society.     King George Bark For Life Event

    Attention dog owners: Plan to attend King George Bark For Life on Sunday, April 18 from 1 – 5 p.m. at Barnesfield Park, Rt. 301 in King George.     Charles County Humane Society Hosts Top Dog Dinner

    The Humane Society of Charles County will host a Top Dog Dinner and Dance on Friday, March 12 from 7 – 11 p.m. at the Greater Waldorf Jaycees Community Center. Tickets are $55 per person and include dinner, dancing, no-cash casino, cash raffles, and wonderful surprise auction items.
