2010 Air Force Teen Aviation Camp
The Air Force Teen Aviation Camp is June 5-11 at Colorado Springs, Colo. Applicant must be a high school student entering their sophomore or junior year in the fall of 2010. Eligible applicants include teen dependents of active duty military assigned to or living on an Air Force base, Air Force retired military, Air Force civilian employee, or activated Air Force Guard or Air Force Reserve who have been activated within the last 12 months. Participants in the 2009 Camp are not eligible to apply this year. All lodging, meals and program expenses will be no cost to the participant. Travel cost to Colorado Springs is the responsibility of the participant. Teens interested in applying must complete the electronic nomination form, familiarization exam and submit the package to the installation youth center. Sign-up deadline is March 22.

Easter Egg Hunt
Get ready to search for Easter eggs during Bolling’s annual Easter Egg Hunt March 27 at the soccer field by the base track from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. Bring your camera for pictures with the Easter Bunny and 11st Services Goose. The egg hunting schedule is 9:30 a.m. -2 to 3 year olds; 9:50 a.m. - 4 to 5 year olds; 10:10 a.m. - 6 to 7 years old; 10:30 a.m. - 8, 9 and 10 year olds; and 10:50 am - 12 years old and older.
Cherry Blossom Cruises scheduled
Cruise from the Capital Cove Marina to the Washington Channel and the Potomac River to view Washington, D.C.’s famous cherry blossoms.
Cruises start at the following times each day. Cruises will depart every two hours. (Weather permitting March 27 at 9:30 a.m., March 28 at 10 a.m., April 3 at 9:30 a.m.and April 4 at 10 a.m. Cost is $10 per person. This program is DePLAYment program eligible. See Luray Caverns in April
See Luray Caverns April 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Luray Caverns is the most popular cave in Eastern America and is an internationally acclaimed destination. One-hour tours, from well-lighted paved walkways lead visitors through cathedral-sized rooms with ceilings 10 stories high. Tickets are $21 for ages 13 and older, $10 for 6 to 12-year-olds, and $3 for children 5 years old and younger. This program is DePLAYment program eligible.
Hit the trails at Great Falls Park
Great Falls Park has many opportunities to explore history and nature, all in a beautiful 800-acre park only 15 miles from the nation’s capital. Bolling’s Outdoor Recreation has tickets for a hiking trip at Great Fall Park April 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Great Falls Park has 15 miles of hiking trails, five of which are multi-use for horseback riding, hiking and biking. The three falls overlooks are within a two to 10-minute walk from the visitor’s center. Tickets are $5 for ages 17 and older and $2 for 16 and younger. Tuesday Big Money Bowling League
Bowlers gather up your teammates and sign-up for the Tuesday Big Money Bowling League at the Potomac Lanes Bowling Center. Price per person is $20. League starts April 6. Slip Inn changes hours in April
Beginning April 10, the Slip Inn will be open Monday through Sunday. Hours are: Monday through Thursday from 11a.m. – 8 p.m.; Friday from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.; Saturday from 1 – 8 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 – 8 p.m. Operating hours until April 10 are Monday through Friday from 3 to 8 p.m.
Blessing of the Fleet planned
Boating season is fast approaching. All Capital Cove Marina slip holders and guests are invited to take part and enjoy the festivities during the annual blessing of the fleet at 11 a.m. April 10. The U.S. Coast Guard will be available for vessel safety checks from 11 a.m. Also enjoy chili from the chili cookoff during tasting and judging which begins at 11:15 a.m.
Sign up for whitewater rafting
Sign up for a whitewater rafting trip in Hico, W. Va. The rocks, gradient and narrowing of the canyon walls create some of the biggest and best rapids for whitewater rafting. The trip is scheduled for April 16 to 18. Cost is $200 per person and includes two-night cabin and tent camping, two breakfasts, a picnic lunch on the river, a buffet dinner, and a day of whitewater rafting and transportation.
