11th Wing hosts Women’s Leadership Conference

The 11th Wing is hosting Bolling Air Force Base’s Women’s Leadership Conference 9 a.m.-4 p.m. March 23-24 at the Bolling Club, in observance of Women’s History Month.

The theme for the free event is ‘‘Writing Women Back into History” and is meant to recognize the many accomplishments of women throughout history.

The first day of the Women’s Leadership Conference will include speakers from the National Capital Region briefing topics in the Capital Ballroom and Spaatz Room at the club.

Speakers schedule for March 24 is:

9 a.m., Michele S. Jones, special assistant to the secretary of defense, White House liaison

10 a.m., ‘‘Strong Women Leaders - Men’s Perspective” panel

Noon, Chief Master Sgt. Robin Johnson, 11th Wing command chief, ‘‘Leading Across Generations”

2 p.m., Chief Master Sgt. Maya Zidack, Pentagon Military Personnel Flight chief, ‘‘Demystifying Air Force Promotion Boards”

3 p.m., Retired military women panel, ‘‘What Happens After Retirement?”

Spaatz Room
10 a.m. Chef Tonne Khabir, Bayonet and Bugle owner and executive chef, ‘‘What it Takes to Run a Small Business”

Noon, Airmen and Family Readiness Center, ‘‘True Colors” personality exercise

3 p.m. Master Sgt. Nicole Wilson, Air Force Intelligence Analysis Agency, ‘‘Balancing Act: Career, Parenting and Sanity”

‘‘This year in celebration of Women’s History Month, Team Bolling is hosting a remarkable platform of women speakers,” said Chief Master Sgt. Robin Johnson, 11th Wing command chief master sergeant. ‘‘Geared to all women — it’s an opportunity to share perspectives. Please join us for either a segment or all day. You are sure to learn a tip, share a tip, or meet someone new.”

The second day of the conference, attendees will meet at the club at 9 a.m. for a ‘‘Writing Women Back into History” presentation and leave at 10 a.m. for a field trip to the Women in Military Service for America Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery.

‘‘Women’s History Month is about taking the time to highlight the great women around us,” said Master Sgt. Deana Shupe, event coordinator. ‘‘We took this focus with the conference and decided to reach out to the women in our community who are creating history everyday and ask them to mentor us.”
