In-service recruiter offers opportunities in Guard, Reserve

Members separating from active duty are encouraged to check opportunities available in the Air Force Reserves and Air National Guard through the Palace Chase and Palace Front programs.

Palace Front allows those separating to stay in the military through the reserves at the end of their military commitment , while Palace Chase allows active duty officer and enlisted members to voluntarily transfer from active military service early. The member’s remaining active-duty service commitment or term of enlistment may be waived, for approved applicants, in exchange for the member’s agreement to participate in a Selected Reserve or National Guard program.

As part of their outprocessing checklist, members are required to be briefed by the installation in-service recruiter.

Master Sgt. Jeanette Masters, in-service recruiter for Bolling Air Force Base and the Pentagon, used to give Palace Chase briefings in a group setting.

‘‘Members who came to the briefings walked away with more questions and ended up having to come back anyway for more personalized information,” she said. ‘‘That’s when I started doing individual briefings instead.”

To make an appointment for information about the Palace Front or Palace Chase programs, e-mail Jeanette.masters@afncr.af.mil, or Bolling members can call 202-767-4105, or Pentagon members can call 703-693-1463.
