Team Bolling ready for Base Beautification Day

Base Beautification Day is March 16 on Bolling Air Force Base.

The event comes after the two blizzards and high-wind days that hit Bolling earlier this year and scattered trash and debris around the base.

The event is expected to last through the morning hours for most units, while members of the 11th Civil Engineer Squadron will work to clear the collected items throughout the day.

ABUs and BDUs are the recommended uniform of the day. Participants are also encouraged to use some type of work gloves for safety reasons as they handle debris, branches and trash. Participants may bring in their own work gloves or borrow them from their unit.

The 11th CES will provide limited quantities of large trash bags, brooms and shovels.

‘‘Much of the trash and debris scattered around the base was covered in snow piles and in areas our folks could not get to,” said Chief Master Sgt. Alberto Czeczotko, 11th CES. ‘‘Now that the snow has melted, we can clean up these areas. The help we get from participants will make the task easier and quicker to accomplish.”

The base will be divided into sections and units will be assigned their respective areas to clean. Participants will need to collect any trash, fallen branches and other debris and dispose of it in the appropriate manner.

Large debris, branches and other items not suitable for disposal in the Dumpster should be placed in a central location within the unit’s assigned area. Units can then call 11th CE customer service at 202-767-4442 to have it picked up.
