Marine Corps National Capital Region courts-martial results

This reports the courts-martial results for Marine Corps commands in the National Capital Region for the period Jan. 27 through Feb. 26.

On Feb. 4, a special court-martial found a private guilty of one specification of unauthorized absence and one specification of wrongful use of marijuana, in violation of Articles 86 and 112a, Uniform Code of Military Justice, respectively. The accused was sentenced to confinement for six months, forfeiture of two-thirds pay per month while confined, and a bad-conduct discharge.

On Feb. 5, a general court-martial found a sergeant guilty of two specifications of aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of 16 years and one specification of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, in violation of Article 120, UCMJ. The accused was also found guilty of two specifications of adultery in violation of Article 134, UCMJ. The accused was sentenced to a reduction to pay grade E-1, confinement for five years, and a dishonorable discharge.

On Feb. 10, a special court-martial found a private guilty of two specifications of unauthorized absence, in violation of Article 86, UCMJ. The accused was also found guilty of one specification of wrongful use of codeine, one specification of wrongful use of cocaine and one specification of wrongful use of marijuana, in violation of Article 112a, UCMJ. The accused was sentenced to confinement for six months and a bad-conduct discharge.

On Feb. 11, a general court-martial found a major guilty of the following offenses: wrongfully and dishonorably soliciting an indecent act and sodomy, and resisting arrest; wrongfully and dishonorably committing an indecent act; and wrongfully and dishonorably intentionally exposing himself in an indecent manner, in violation of Article 133, UCMJ. The accused was sentenced to a reprimand, 60 days restriction to Marine Corps Base Quantico and a fine of $10,000, which if not paid within four months, a period of six months confinement will be adjudged.

On Feb. 12, a general court-martial found a chief warrant officer 4 guilty of one specification of false official statement and one specification of larceny, in violation of Articles 107 and 121, UCMJ, respectively. The accused was sentenced to a reprimand, forfeiture of $2,500 pay per month for 37 months and a fine of $37,000, which if not paid within 37 months, a period of 37 months confinement will be adjudged.

On Feb. 13, a special court-martial found a staff sergeant guilty of two specifications of failure to obey a lawful general order and two specifications of adultery, in violation of Articles 92 and 134, UCMJ, respectively. The accused was sentenced to a reduction to pay grade E-4 and a bad conduct discharge.

On Feb. 18, a special court-martial found a lance corporal guilty of two specifications of unauthorized absence, one specification of failure to obey a general lawful order, two specifications of wrongfully damaging non-military property, and one specification of wrongful use of marijuana, in violation of Articles 86, 92, 109 and 112a, UCMJ, respectively. The accused was sentenced to a reduction to pay grade E-1, confinement for 10 months, forfeiture of two-thirds pay per month while confined, and a bad-conduct discharge.

On Feb. 19, a special court-martial found a sergeant guilty of one specification of dereliction of duty and two specifications of aggravated assault, in violation of Articles 92 and 128, UCMJ, respectively. The accused was sentenced to a reduction to pay grade E-4 and 30 days restriction.

On Feb. 26, a special court-martial found a corporal guilty of one specification of wrongful use of marijuana and one specification of adultery, in violation of Articles 112a and 134, UCMJ, respectively. The accused was found not guilty of one specification of communicating a disloyal statement. The accused was sentenced to a reduction to pay grade E-1, confinement for 6 months, forfeiture of two-thirds pay per month while confined, and a bad-conduct discharge.
