579th Medical Group

The 579th Medical Group has a proud history and enjoys a reputation of being an indisputable leader in quality medical and dental care. The group provides health care services supporting Headquarters Air Force, the Defense Intelligence Agency, Headquarters Air Force District of Washington , three wings and 233 geographically separated units in 126 countries.

The group delivers medical and dental care to 20,000 tri-service beneficiaries assigned to the National Capital Region , including SECDEF, SECAF and CSAF. The group also directs an Advanced Education General Dentistry Residency Program, and plans, trains and deploys to support worldwide contingencies.

The 579th Medical Group provides premier medical and dental care for enrolled beneficiaries in the National Capital Region. The Bolling Clinic is located on the first floor of Bldg. 1300 and has a staff of providers specializing in family medicine and flight medicine. Services include well baby appointments, pediatrics, women’s health, optometry, family advocacy, substance abuse control programs, force health protection, immunizations, health promotions, public health, laboratory, radiology and pharmacy.

Other military medical facilities in the area include Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.; the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md.; DeWitt Army Hospital, Fort Belvoir, Va.; 79th Medical Group, Malcolm Grow Medical Center, Andrews AFB, Md; Fort McNair’s Health Clinic, Washington, D.C.; Andrew Rader facility at Quantico, Va. A TRICARE Service Center is also located in Bldg. 1300. Staff members there can answer questions regarding enrollment and eligibility.

The 579th Medical group consists of three squadrons:

    579th Medical Operations Squadron
    The 579th Medical Operations Squadron supports the health and readiness of Airmen and their families on Bolling AFB and across the National Capital Region. Operating out of a number of locations across Bolling AFB and at the Pentagon, the squadron offers a broad range of clinical and health promotion services, including Family Health, Pediatrics, Flight Medicine, Mental Health, Family Advocacy, Substance Abuse, Drug Testing, Optometry, Public Health, Force Health, Bioenvironmental Engineering, Health and Wellness Center, Immunizations, and Ambulance Services. Committed to the highest quality standards, MDOS serves as a proud member of the Air Force District of Washington, 79th Medical Wing and Bolling AFB communities.

    579th Medical Support Squadron
    The 579th Medical Support Squadron supports Team Bolling along with the eligible beneficiary population, Air Force District of Washington, the Department of Defense, and our nation's security by providing health support for the full range of military deployments and sustaining the health of members of the armed forces, their families, and others to advance our national security interests. The 579th Medical Support Squadron provides the highest standard of direct medical care and medical administrative services to Bolling units. These areas of expertise include pharmacy services, diagnostic imaging and clinical laboratory support. Superior logistical and administrative support is also provided through information system management, facility management, medical equipment and supply processing, orderly room, resource management, patient administration, TRICARE services, medical readiness and referral management.

    579th Dental Squadron
    The 579th Dental Squadron is located on the second floor of Bldg. 1300. The 579th Dental Squadron provides comprehensive dental care for active duty personnel assigned to Bolling and the Washington metropolitan area, including restorative and preventive dentistry, Endodontics (Root Canal therapy), Periodontics, Prosthodontics (tooth replacement), Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry and Oral Surgery. The dental squadron is one of 13 in the Air Force that has an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program, and is one of the largest Air Force implant centers on the East Coast. The squadron supports the Air Force Element of the Tri-service Dental Clinic at the Pentagon and also has a full dental team positioned at Ft. Meade, Md. Urgent or acute care is provided during duty hours by appointment. On holidays and after-duty hours, emergency care is available through Malcolm Grow Medical Center at Andrews AFB, Md. Dental care for all non-active duty beneficiaries is extremely limited, therefore all non-active duty patients should select a civilian dentist to provide ongoing, routine dental care. Active duty family members should participate in the TRICARE Dental Program, which now provides expanded benefits for comprehensive and specialty care by participating civilian dentists. 744th Communications Squadron

The 744th Communications Squadron provides network operations for Andrews AFB & Bolling AFB, to include a help desk, network management, small computer support, and information protection. The squadron also provides administrative communications and customer training, technical and systems support for communications and computer systems including ground radio (land mobile radio, cellular phones and frequency management), telephone and client computer systems.

Air Force Office of Special Investigations, 7FIS-OLA

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations, 7FIS-OLA is a field operating agency under the 7th Field Investigations Squadron Washington Field Office at Andrews AFB, Md. The 7FIS-OLA is responsible for providing independent, professional, criminal, fraud and counterintelligence investigative services to the Air Force and specified Defense Department elements within the National Capital Region.

The 7FIS-OLA consists of special agents who work to uncover facts surrounding felony crimes including robbery, sexual assault, homicide, narcotics and fraud. 7FIS-OLA focuses on identifying, investigating and neutralizing espionage and terrorist activities that threaten Air Force and Defense Department resources.

Air Force Historical Studies Office

The Air Force Historical Studies Office directly supports the Air Force Historian; and, conducts research and analysis of the service’s major operational activities. It publishes books, monographs, studies and reports designed to preserve the history and heritage of the United States Air Force. The office routinely provides information, analysis and perspective to senior Air Force leaders and their staffs in support of planning, policy development, and decision-making. It also responds to requests for information about the Air Force’s history from government agencies, researchers, and private organizations.

Air Force Central Adjudication Facility

AFCAF is the Air Force security clearance authority for all Secret, Top Secret, Special Compartmented Information and Special Access Program eligibility for all active duty, Air National Guard, Reserve, civilian and contractor employees and makes trustworthiness determinations for civilian, non-appropriated funds and contractor personnel occupying positions of trust.

Air Force Chaplain Service

The Air Force Office of the Chief of the Chaplains provides functional doctrine and policies to recruit, train, organize, equip and sustain an agile chaplain service in support of Air Force mission objectives and the free exercise of religion.

Air Force Departmental Publishing Office

Located in Bldg. 94 at the Navy’s Anacostia Annex, AFDPO is the publishing manager for the Air Force secretariat and Air Force staff. AFDPO provides publishing products and services for administrative publications and forms to AF customers worldwide. AFDPO assists the office of primary responsibility with formatting and coordination requirements for publications and designing headquarters forms. AFDPO also manages the Air Force Publishing Distribution Center (AFPDC), located in Essex, Md., which is the central repository for storage and distribution of physical products used AF-wide. It manages the centralized electronic repository for storage and dissemination of digitized publications and forms from departmental down to base level. And, it manages the central tagging operation that prepares all publications from headquarters to wing level for digital dissemination.

AFDPO is responsible for providing and maintaining the official software used for designing and filling out ‘‘standard” Air Force forms and assisting functional communities in developing interactive applications with more intelligent forms. AFDPO manages the publicly accessible Web site on the Internet at http:⁄⁄www.e-publishing.af.mil⁄. This website allows all Air Force customers to access digitized products or order physical products on-line. Using this website as a starting point, customers can automatically search the publishing databases of the other services, plus the entire Department of Defense.

U.S. Coast Guard

Coast Guard Station Washington is located at Bolling’s Capital Cove Marina. It’s an operational unit responsible for ensuring the maritime safety and security of the National Capital Region.

Defense Intelligence Agency

The Defense Intelligence Agency is a Department of Defense combat support agency and an important member of the United States intelligence community. With more than 16,500 military and civilian employees worldwide, DIA is a major producer and manager of foreign military intelligence. DIA provides military intelligence to warfighters, defense policymakers and force planners, in the Department of Defense and the intelligence community, in support of U.S. military planning and operations and weapon systems acquisition.

The director of DIA is a three-star military officer who serves as principal adviser to the secretary of defense and to the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff on matters of military intelligence. The director also chairs the Military Intelligence Board, which coordinates activities of the defense intelligence community.

DIA is headquartered at the Defense Intelligence Analysis Center at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., with major operational activities at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C., the National Center for Medical Intelligence, Frederick, Md., and the Missile and Space Intelligence Center, Huntsville, Ala.

The workforce is as diverse as its missions. The workforce possesses skills in the areas of military history and doctrine, economics, physics, chemistry, world history, political science, bio-sciences, and computer sciences to name a few.

DIA’s mission is to satisfy the military and military-related intelligence requirements of the secretary and deputy secretary of defense, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, and the DNI, and provide the military intelligence contribution to national foreign intelligence and counterintelligence. DIA plans, manages, and executes intelligence operations during peacetime, crisis and war. DIA employees serve as the DoD lead for coordinating intelligence support to meet COCOM requirements; lead efforts to align analysis, collection, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance activities with all operations; and link and synchronize military, defense and national intelligence capabilities.

Employees travel the world, and meet and work closely with other professionals from foreign countries. Employees are offered personal development through many education and training programs. Civil Air Patrol

Bolling AFB is home to Civil Air Patrol's National Capital Wing headquarters and Challenger 1 Cadet Squadron located at 200 McChord St., Suite 111. The National Capital Wing is the primary point of contact for all CAP activities and Air Force support missions in the Washington, D.C., metro area. The wing currently has six subordinate squadrons, including the Challenger 1 Cadet Squadron - the sister squadron to the Air Force Honor Guard.

Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, is a nonprofit organization with 56,000 members nationwide. CAP performs 90 percent of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and was credited by the Air Force with saving 91 lives in fiscal year 2008. Its volunteers also perform homeland security, disaster relief and counter-drug missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. The members play a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to the nearly 22,000 young people currently participating in CAP cadet programs. Civil Air Patrol is “Citizens Serving Communities: Above and Beyond“ and has been performing missions for America for more than 67 years.
