Welcome To The 11th WingTuesday, March 16, 2010
Bolling Air Force base is home to the 11th Wing -- “The Chief's Own“ -- and is situated on the East Bank of the Potomac River in our nation's capital. Under the leadership of the Air Force District of Washington and the command element for the U.S. Air Force Band and U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, it provides mission-ready Airmen determined to provide superior customer service, precise ceremonial and musical operations worldwide. It also represents the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force at events in support of Headquarters Air Force, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the White House.
As the host wing for Bolling, the 11th Wing also provides superior base operating support to its assigned personnel, 19 tenant units and more than 48,000 Airmen and their families in the National Capital Region, plus 36 states and 95 countries worldwide. In addition, the 11th Wing organizes, trains and equips Airmen for Air and Space Expeditionary Force deployments when tasked, for military support of civil authorities when asked and for contingency response operations when needed. Our Mission Superior customer service ... always. We are entrusted to support a customer base of about 48,000 Air Force members and their families. This includes providing a comprehensive base operating support to all assigned Airmen in the National Capital Region and worldwide. Precise musical and ceremonial engagement ... as directed. The Air Force Band, Honor Guard and Arlington Chaplaincy are ceremonial ambassadors. They serve to foster morale, recruitment and community relations, as well as honor our nation’s fallen. Expeditionary response ... at home and abroad. We will nurture combat-ready forces in preparation for air expeditionary force deployments around the world, as well as homeland operations in support of civil authorities in the United States.
