American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. When military members and their families experience emergencies such as the death or illness of a loved one or the birth of a child, the American Red Cross is here to provide emergency communications, access to financial assistance, and other services 24 hours a day. The Red Cross office aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico is located on Barnett Avenue in Little Hall on the second deck; office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 703-784-3113. Banking Bank of America has a branch office located in the Marine Corps Exchange Mall. Weekday hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A 24-hour banking machine is located outside the mall. Call 703-630-1775 for more information. Marine Federal Credit Union operates three full-service branches and more than 13 ATMs in the Quantico area. MFCU’s main office, complete with drive-up ATM and safe deposit boxes, is located on Russell Road near the Exchange Service Station and Package Store. The Basic School Branch is located on the ground floor of O’Bannon Hall, 703-640-7505. Navy Federal Credit Union accountholders won’t have to travel far to conduct banking transactions. A new location recently opened just south of Marine Corps Base Quantico on U.S. Route 1. The branch located at 100 Corporate Dr. Stafford, Va., offers an array of services to include notary and coin counter. Barber Shops The Main Exchange Barber Shop provides a full range of grooming services 7 days a week. Quantico’s skilled barbers are well-known for their expert and courteous service. There are five other shops located throughout the base: Mainside, Building 3035, off Barnett Avenue; Lejeune Hall, Building 3250, Catlin Avenue; OCS, Building 2189, inside the John Wesley Marsh Center, 3280, Russell Road; TBS Exchange. Car Rental Enterprise Car Rental operates a desk in the Main Exchange where there are no long lines or reservation hassles. Remember to tell them you are a Quantico Exchange customer. Carwash The Mainside self-serve carwash, Building 3056, located near the Marine Mart off Barnett Avenue, is a state-of-the-art facility that offers coin-operated car-vacs, five-car wash bays, carpet shampoo, an RV bay and a detailing area. It’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. An automatic carwash is co-located with the Gas Station near McDonald’s. For more information call 703-640-7059. Career Resource Management Center The Career Resource Management Center manages the Transition Assistance Program which provides career⁄employment assistance, vocational guidance, and transition information to retiring or separating military personnel and their family members. Job search training, personal improvement workshops and individual counseling are provided. The center has an automated national job bank and takes part in local and regional job fairs. Additionally, the center features the Family Member Employment Assistance Program offers an array of employment assistance. It can help you with constructing a resume, job searches, labor market information, employer contacts and employment referral. Youth and Teen Clubs The Clubs at Quantico is located at Building 3017, Russell Road, next to the Quantico Pool. The tri-modular construction houses the Officers, Staff Noncommissioned Officers, and Enlisted Clubs, each maintaining their own individual and distinctive programs. The facility offers complete dining services and entertainment programs in each lounge, as well as banquet facilities and full catering service available to all patrons. Combat Visual Information Center The Combat Visual Information Center, located in Building 2009, supports commands' visual information, training devices and audiovisual equipment needs. It has the capability to produce graphics, photographs, video productions, and interactive multi-media. The CVIC also operates ‘‘Q-TV,” Comcast Cable channel 23, which provides around-the-clock information on community and local events, as well as military educational programming. For more information, call 703-784-2381⁄3218. Commissary The Quantico Commissary is located beside the Marine Corps Exchange to facilitate one-stop shopping. It provides a wide selection of meat and produce and a complete line of grocery and household items. For additional savings, look for the ‘‘Best Value Item” signs throughout the store. The commissary opens at 7 a.m. for early bird shopping of 20 items or less Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Consolidated Substance Abuse Counseling Center The Consolidated Substance Abuse Counseling Center provides assessments, outpatient treatment and referrals to residential programs and⁄or community resources. The center also offers information and classes on a wide variety of alcohol and other drug-related topics, to include early intervention and substance abuse control officer training. Services are available to active duty, retirees, and their family members 18 years and older, as well as to civilian employees working aboard Quantico on a space-available basis. Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools
There are many off-base public schools in the surrounding counties in Stafford and Prince William. Prince William County also has several special education schools. As well, there are a number of private and parochial schools in the area. Information on these schools may be obtained from the respective county chamber of commerce. School Liaison The School Liaison partners with the command staff, MCCS Marine and Family Services Division, and the local school community to address educational issues that involve Quantico’s military children. The School Liaison acts as the communication link between the installation, Marine and Family Service programs, the military family and the surrounding school districts. Transitional services include information and referral to ease the move from one educational setting to another. The School Liaison may further assist the military school age child by facilitation problem solving and providing education to the parents, schools and command so that they may better advocate for the needs of the military child. The local schools benefit by having a direct contact person at Quantico who can help them understand the specific challenges military students experience and give them the necessary tools and support to help military children succeed in their academic environment. Lifelong LearningEducation Center Exceptional Family Member Program The Exceptional Family Member Program is a mandatory enrollment program for active duty personnel who have authorized family members with diagnosed medical and⁄or educational conditions. The primary goal of the program is to ensure that military sponsors are assigned to locations where services exist to support their Exceptional Family Member (spouse, child, stepchild, adopted child, foster child, or a dependent parent) residing with the sponsor who may require special medical or educational services based upon a diagnosed physical, intellectual or emotional hardship. The program also provides a number of support services to include respite care, educational⁄informational forums on various topics specific to persons with disabilities, a support group, and volunteer network to families. Family Advocacy Program The Family Advocacy Program provides prevention, crisis intervention, and treatment services directed toward family violence and child abuse. The FAP focuses on interventions that prevent family violence and child abuse by addressing the risk factors, underlying causes, and effects of family violence on both adult and child victims. When abuse does occur, Family Advocacy concentrates on the safety of the victims, rehabilitative services for the offenders, and consultation with the commands. Services provided on an ongoing basis include stress and anger management, relationship and communication workshops, conflict management, 24-hour victim advocacy, individual counseling, domestic violence support groups and support groups for victims of abuse. FAP also offers marriage and family counseling services for individuals and couples, providing short-term counseling and other forms of intervention for coping with life’s daily stressors. In addition to counseling, we also offer information and referrals to other military and civilian resources and services. All services are kept confidential. Family Readiness Program Family readiness is a combat multiplier; equally as important as individual, equipment, and combat readiness. It is the ability of the individual Marine and their family to successfully balance life, career, and mission events through active and reserve service and is supported by the enduring partnership between the unit's Family Readiness Command Team and Marine Corps Community Services. It is an obligation between the Corps, the Marine and their entire family. The individual Marine is responsible and accountable for his personal and family readiness. The Unit Family Readiness Program is the responsibility of the commanding officer. MCCS is responsible to support the individual Marine, their family, and the Unit Family Readiness Program. FOCUS uses the family training techniques to highlight areas of strength and resilience in the family and promote family growth to help address current challenges. FOCUS provides structured activities to bridge gaps in shared family understanding that may follow stressful experiences and separations. Family members are taught skills to improve emotional regulation, problem solving goal setting and communication. Information and Referral The Information and Referral program links active duty, retired personnel and their families to a variety of services and programs provided by both military and civilian resources. A toll-free number is available for personnel on independent duty assignments, those families not living near a Marine Corps Base, and those in-transits in the Eastern United States. Legal Assistance Licensed attorneys certified by the Judge Advocate General of the Navy provide free legal assistance services to active duty members and their dependents, retirees, and reservists activated for thirty days or more. Services include: estate planning (wills, advance medical directives, powers of attorney); family law (separation, divorce, adoptions); consumer law (fair debt collection, credit reporting, landlord-tenant); immigration and naturalization; notary services; and seasonal income tax preparation. The Legal Assistance Office and VITA Tax Center is located in Building 3095, Roan Street; the entrance for the Tax Center (which is open only from mid-January until April 15th) is at the rear of the building. Lifestyle, Insights, Networking, Knowledge and Skills L.I.N.K.S. is a volunteer, team-mentoring program designed by Marine Corps spouses. The program offers an orientation to the Marine Corps lifestyle, helping spouses, Marines, children, teens, and parents⁄extended family members understand and adapt to the unique challenges military life often presents. While the curriculum targets those who are new to the Marine Corps community, the information is very beneficial at all levels of Marine Corps experience. MCCS Financial Services The MCCS Finance Section, located on the second floor of Little Hall, Building 2034, Barnett Avenue, is a support office for all MCCS Activities. Inquiries concerning member accounts with Retail, Food & Hospitality, Recreation, Family Services, Uniform Deferred Payment Program, and Command Dishonored Personal Check List can be made at 703-784-3483, Monday through Friday during the business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Marine Corps Exchange The Quantico Main Exchange, Building 3500, Russell Road (near the back gate of Quantico) is co-located with the Commissary, making it accessible for convenient one-stop shopping. It is the second largest Marine Corps Exchange under one roof. It offers a wide range of merchandise, including clothing, toys, housewares, furniture, electronics, sporting goods and ‘value-priced’ items⁄brands. Through its ‘‘price match guarantee,” the Exchange will match current advertised prices from any local competitor. (Some restrictions apply, see store for details.) In addition, many services have been added for customer convenience: GNC; Sempertoons; furniture delivery; Teleflora fresh flower arrangements; professional travel services; MCCS Information, Tickets & Travel office; car rental; cellular phone service; watch and jewelry repair, nail salon, and an engraving and framing shop. Money orders and Western Union services are also available at the Customer Service desk. The checkout registers at the Main Exchange and its branches will cash checks for up to $25 over the amount of purchases when paying by check. Marine Corps FamilyTeam Building The Mission of Marine Corps Family Team Building is to foster personal growth and enhance the readiness of Marine Corps families, which will enable them to understand and successfully meet the challenge of the Marine Corps lifestyle. Dental Clinic
Naval Health Clinic The mission of the clinic is to provide and coordinate health care and wellness services for active duty members to maximize readiness. The clinic provides services to all eligible beneficiaries who have enrolled in TRICARE Prime at NHCL Quantico. Normal operating hours for the clinic are 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday with the exception of Thursday. Command training is conducted Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. The clinic has limited after-hours services Monday through Friday 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday closed. The clinic has the following medical specialists: family practice, primary care, pediatrics, sports medicine, flight surgeon, internal medicine, mental health, optometry, occupational⁄preventive medicine, radiology, social services and physical therapy. Visiting physicians from the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, and other military treatment facilities provide specialty care on a limited basis in cardiology, pediatric urology, endocrinology, ENT, hematology and oncology, neurology, OB⁄GYN, occupational therapy, ophthalmology, dermatology, orthopedics, podiatry, prenatal care, pulmonary, and rheumatology. Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is a private, non-profit emergency relief organization supported solely by donations from Navy and Marine Corps personnel. Its purpose is to provide temporary assistance to active-duty and retired Marines and sailors and their eligible family members in the form of interest-free loans and grants. Assistance can include funds for basic living expenses, car repairs, emergency travel, pay problems, medical and dental co-pay, funeral expenses, and other needs. The society also offers financial counseling and can suggest ways to reduce debt. Other services include budget for baby classes, layettes for newborns, visiting nurse services, and education loans and scholarships. The society relies on dedicated, trained volunteers from the community. Volunteers gain job skills and work in a friendly, rewarding environment. Volunteer mileage and childcare are paid. New Parent Support Program The New Parent Support Program is located on the lower level of Little Hall, building 2034 Barnett Ave. It is a team of licensed nurses and social workers who provide educational and support services to Marine Corps families who are expecting or have a child up to the age of six. NPSP teaches parents how to cope with stress, isolation, and the everyday demands of parenthood. Parenting classes, discipline classes, Mom’s Support Group, Play Mornings, and Baby Boot Camp are just some of the class offerings by NPSP. Home visitation is also available for one-on-one instruction or support regarding parenting issues. For more information or to register for classes or home visitation call 703-784-4248. Personal Financial Management Program The Personal Readiness and Community Support Center has a full-time financial management specialist available to provide financial training, information and assistance to those in need of financial counseling or debt management. The financial management counselor is available to commands and other on-base groups for training in such topics as financial management, budgeting, buying a car⁄house and checkbook maintenance. Personal Readiness and Community Support Center The Personal Readiness and Community Support Center, located in the Religious⁄Family Services Annex, Building 3019, provides a variety of resources and services which support and enhance the quality of life for all active duty service members and families, retirees and their family members, and DOD and NAF civilian employees as appropriate. Services and programs offered are Information and Referral, Relocation Assistance, Personal Financial Management, Transition Assistance, Family Member Employment Assistance, Exceptional Family Member Program, and Retired Activities. Quantico Thrift Shop The Quantico Thrift Shop is located in Building 3074 on South Street, near the Marine Corps University. It is the place for military families to purchase clothing, small household items, toys and books at nominal prices. Uniforms are also available at a fraction of their original cost, and sold “as is“ or in serviceable condition. Only uniform items may be consigned and are accepted by appointment only. The QTS relies on volunteers to help with daily operations and is open Tuesday and Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For additional information, call 703-640-7430. Religious Programs Marine Corps Base Quantico provides a comprehensive Command Religious Program for all eligible personnel in the surrounding communities. The Command Religious Program provides ministry by chaplains of various faith group backgrounds to Marine Corps Combat Development Center, Officer Candidates School, The Basic School, Headquarters and Service Battalion, Security Battalion and provides chaplain coverage to other units and commands on base. The chaplains are assisted by religious program specialists, creating Religious Ministry Teams, to provide access to the free exercise of religion for all. Located in Lejeune Hall, the Command Chaplain's office can assist in joining eligible personnel with the many active services on board the base, finding a local civilian faith group, or simply talking with a chaplain. United States Marine Corps Memorial Chapel Relocation Assistance Program The Relocation Assistance Program provides base newcomers and personnel departing for new duty stations with base ‘‘Welcome Aboard” briefs, relocation workshops, and extensive information thru the Military HOMEFRONT Web site for military duty stations worldwide. RAP offers services designed to reduce the stress associated with living a mobile lifestyle. Sponsorship training and coordination is provided for unit commanders, and household items such as dishes, futons, portable cribs and car seats are available for short-term loan from the Lending Locker. Retired Activities Office The Retired Activities Office provides assistance to retired persons of all U.S. Armed Forces, their spouses and families, widows and widowers, in obtaining the benefits and entitlements earned through their many years of dedicated service to our country. RAO is focused on providing the retired community with information about retirement pay, medical care or issues related to death benefits.
