Fort Myer Military Community Base Guide

Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall

Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010

The Fort Myer and Henderson Hall staffs have a history of working together, but with the BRAC 2005 initiative, they began in earnest to coordinate, engineer and raise the level of support offered to all military personnel.

The delicate change of human relationships and duties – the day-to-day industry of success – have been managed, honed and polished, and as a result, the Joint Base has been operating soundly for a long time; staffs were prepared for the official redesignation ceremony Oct. 1, 2009.

There are very few service-unique (open only to Army, Marine, Navy, Air Force) functions at Fort Myer or Henderson Hall. For example, dining facilities at both installations are open to all services; Henderson Hall’s Base Exchange and Fort Myer’s Post Exchange are open to all services; ID card centers at both organizations are open to all. If a function can be shared, and is in the best interests of those served, it will be shared.

Both the services will maintain the traditions and unique history that speak ‘‘Soldier” and ‘‘Marine.”
