Post Office and Postal Operations (Military)
The U.S. Postal Service is located on Main Street, next to Postal Operations (military mailroom), room 1432. Postal Operations acts as the consolidating point for all official mail processing and distribution for NNMC and tenant commands as well as personal mail delivery for barrack quarters residents. Express Mail Services are provided for official mail only.

Navy Federal Credit Union
Located on Main Street, Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) offers a complete range of services and products, with worldwide locations. NFCU staff members are ready to assist you with all your financial needs. Also available are 24-hour NFCU ATMs located on Main Street and at the Navy Exchange. Log on at www.navyfcu.org.

Pastoral Care Services
National Naval Medical Center chaplains represent a variety of religious denominations and faith groups. They are available to provide prayer, support and pastoral counseling to all patients, families and staff from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call (301) 295-1510 for more information. After-hours emergency chaplain assistance is available by contacting the Command Duty Office at (301) 295-4611 and asking for the duty chaplain.

Wednesday at 12:15 p.m.

Congregational Prayer
Roman Catholic Communion: Deacons and lay Eucharistic ministers bring communion to patients every day except Saturday. Patients who are missed may call Pastoral Care Services. All religious services in the Main Chapel are televised in patient rooms on NNMC Channel 41, including daily Mass at noon and Sunday services as scheduled.

Fisher Houses I and II
Fisher Houses I and II are two beautiful homes providing temporary residency to eligible families and loved ones who are visiting patients at NNMC. Each house has a comfortable living room with a fireplace and library, spacious dining room, cheerful kitchen and laundry facilities for families to share. Each family has their own private room and bath, cable television, phone, clock radio, and linens. This environment has all the comforts of home and is a refuge for stress-weary families who join together to form a supportive community. The fee for staying at Fisher House is $10 per night, per room, regardless of the number of people. Minimum stay is three nights; maximum stay is thirty days. Eligibility information and referral forms can be found at the Admissions Office, social work department, pastoral care department or at the nursing station or waiting room of each ward.

Legal Assistance Program
The Legal Assistance Program is designed to provide in-office attorney advice, aid and referral for active duty and retired service members and their families. Legal assistance is rendered by judge advocates certified by the Judge Advocate General, or by his designated representatives. Attorneys are assigned by the Naval Legal Service Office of the National Capital Area. The Naval Legal Assistance Program is limited to matters of a civil nature such as drafting of simple wills and legal documents, advice on contracts, landlord and tenant issues, leases, income tax matters, marriage and divorce laws, and other areas of the law that may concern military personnel, their family members and retirees. The Legal Assistance Office does not provide advice on criminal issues or personal and private business matters.

Human Resources Office
The Human Resources Office provides advice and guidance on standard personnel issues such as recruitment, classification, training, labor and employee relations, and equal employment opportunities. NNMC also has a recruitment office dedicated to recruit civilian medical positions.

Retired Activities Office
The Retired Activities Office (RAO) provides several services, including helping surviving family members of retirees with benefit information and paperwork, and providing NNMC pre-retirement briefings for active duty personnel. RAO also helps plan and conduct an annual RAO seminar. They provide information on everything from VA benefits to job referrals and relocation services for retirees and their spouses.

Veterans Affairs (VA)
There are two VA reps available for walk-in appointments on Monday thru Friday. Current hours are asfollows:

  • Monday from 8 a.m. to noon
  • Tuesday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Thursday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Friday from 8 a.m. to noon
Fleet and Family Support Office
The Fleet and Family Support Office (FFSO) is committed to supporting the National Naval Medical Center leadership in achieving maximum mission readiness. Command, Sailors and family members can access a wide range of services and programs, focused on adaptation to the special demands of military careers, military family life and the need for rapid response to current world events. The FFSO provides transition assistance for military personnel entering the civilian world; financial assistance education; spouses employment skills training and career resources; relocation assistance and one-on-one counseling to ease the stress of moving; information on local, state and community resources; assist single Sailors and families understand and anticipate physical and emotional demands associated with deployment; and tools Navy families need to succeed.
