Quantico Marine Corps Base Guide
Since its establishment in 1917, Quantico has been home to many of the nation's most innovative, intelligent and patriotic men and women. It is here, at the Crossroads of the Marine Corps, that vital concepts, training, and equipment of the future are developed.
Spaniards visited Quantico 40 years before Jamestown was settled and Captain John Smith explored the Potomac banks in 1608.
Quantico is conveniently accessed by Interstate 95 and there are two airports nearby: Dulles International in Centreville, and Ronald Reagan Washington National in Washington, D.C.

Headquartered in the General Raymond G. Davis Center at 3300 Russell Road, the Marine Corps Combat Development Command was created on Nov. 10, 1987 by the 28th commandant of the Marine Corps, General P.X. Kelly.
Marine Corps Base Quantico is home to the Marine Corps Combat Development Command and numerous tenant organizations.
The NCR is unique in that it is the seat of the United States Government and the location of senior offices of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of the federal government.
