Wing volunteers help promote understanding and acceptance of our mission in the community.

Volunteer Service
Upon joining the 11th Wing, not only will you be a member of a world-class organization, you will also have the opportunity to volunteer your time to help continue building a world-class community.

Together with our civilian neighbors, we share the same communities; our children go to the same schools and we worship in the same churches. As a result, just as any family, we’re concerned with the same social issues and how they affect our members and our localcommunities.

Wing members participate in manycommunity events throughout the year such as the D.C. Special Olympics, Earth Week, food and clothing drives, Public Service Recognition Week, ‘‘So Others May Eat,” visiting andcleaning the Soldiers and Airmen Home, Salute To Veterans and many others.

The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard participates in a monthly cleaning of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Company Grade Officers Council supports the Potomac River clean-up program and the U.S. Air Force Band engages with the community through the Summer Concert Series, Guest Artist Series and holiday concerts, inaddition to the Young Artists’ Competition and music education outreach.

Wing members also volunteer their time for the 11th Wing Mentoring Program. The program has taken the lead and accepted the challenge ofmentoring and sponsoring three schools in theDistrict of Columbia. Volunteers meet weekly, reaching out to more than 100 students annually.

Strengthening Community Ties
The wing’s Community Partners Programcreates an informal partnership between Bolling and business, community, educational andreligious leaders. This partnership helps promote understanding and acceptance of our mission in the community and how it relates to our nation’s defense. By interacting with our civiliancounterparts regularly, the 11th Wing works to build public trust and support in the community.
